AI-Assisted Development with Agentic IDEs · Lesson 2
Setting Up Your Environment
Install your chosen tool, sign in, and open a project under version control. Commit before letting an agent make large changes so you can review diffs and roll back.
Configure permissions: which commands the agent may run without asking, and which folders it can touch. Start conservative.
Make sure the project has working install, test and run commands — agents depend on fast feedback from tests.
Key points
- Always work inside git
- Commit before big agent changes
- Set conservative command permissions
- Fast, working tests give agents feedback
